PM Narendra Modi likely to announce digitised health accounts, which will be called as Aarogya Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) on Republic Day. As reported by several news outlets, PM Narendra Modi will encourage people to create the Aarogya Bharat Health Accounts in his Republic Day speech. With this, the PM aims to boost participation under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) scheme. The ABDM scheme was launched by the government in August 2020 to develop an integrated digital health infrastructure in the country. The ABDM scheme allows the patient to have full control over their data as he/she decides who he/she wants to share it with. Hence, the health data of all the beneficiaries remains secured. The government is now planning to call the digital health accounts – ‘ABHA’, with the hope that the name will resonate more with the common man. Covid-19 pandemic causing rise in high blood pressure cases: DAK Srinagar, Dec 11 (KNO): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Saturday said the number of people with high blood pressure has increased since Covid-19 pandemic. “The pandemic is causing a rise in blood pressure,” said DAK President and Influenza expert Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Quoting a study conducted on half a million adults published in the Journal Circulation, Dr Hassan said people had a significant rise in blood pressure during the pandemic year 2020 as compared to the previous year. “The study found that the blood pressure increase affected all age groups, and both men and women, although larger increases were seen in women,” he said. Alarming! 324 Kids among 5534 test positive for HIV in J&K

1261 people have died of AIDS, 2989 alive on ART: JKACS Jahangeer Ganaie Srinagar, Dec 01 (KNO) : The cases of HIV AIDS are increasing with the passing year as 5534 patients including 324 kids have been tested HIV positive in J&K so far. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that so far 1261 HIV positive patients have died while 2989 patients are alive on Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) while 691 patients have left follow-up. They said that because of social stigma, people aren't coming forward for the HIV tests and over the years the number of patients infected by HIV has shown a rising trend. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Aids Control Society (JKACS) data, a copy of which is in possession with KNO, in government medical college Jammu, 4,683 patients including 276 kids below 15 years of age have been tested positive for HIV, among them 1124 patients including 52 kids have died besides that 665 patients have left follow up treatment while as 2,422 are alive...
