30-yr-old man 'commits suicide' in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 17 (KNO): A 30-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Mallabagh area of Srinagar on Monday afternoon.

Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death in Mallabagh area in Srinagar outskirts.

They said that he was brought to SKIMS Soura, where doctors declared brought him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, local police have taken cognizance of the incident and started investigations in this regard —(KNO)

Government employees to get Rs 2000 ‘secretariat allowance’

Jammu: All J&K government employees working in civil secretariat Srinagar and Jammu as well as in the offices of Head of Departments (HoDs) situated outside the secretariat would get a “secretariat allowance” at a uniform rate of Rs 2000 per month. However, only the full-time government employees and not the employees on a contract, consolidated rates of pay, or part-time employees would be entitled to this allowance admissible throughout the year. The allowance has been granted with a retrospective effect from 1 November 2021.
