The Cabinet Council is planning a one-time settlement amount towards DA arrears on hold for the past 18 months. Good news may be on the horizon for central government employees who have been waiting for official update on DA arrears of 18 months. From October 2021, central government employees and pensioners saw their Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief restored to 31% from 17%. However, the arrears have not yet reached their bank accounts. As per latest reports in the media, the meeting on DA arrears could happen this week. As per earlier reports, Cabinet Council is planning a one-time settlement amount towards DA arrears on hold for the past 18 months. This would bring the arrear deposit to up to Rs 2 lakh for some employees as per their band. Latest Weather Update For Jammu and Kashmir Mercury drops in Kashmir Valley, Gulmarg freezes at minus 10.4°C Srinagar, Jan 26 (GNS): The minimum temperature in most parts of Kashmir Valley recorded a drop with mercury settling at minus 10.4°C in tourist resort of Gulmarg, officials said here. An official of the meteorological department here told GNS that Srinagar received 3.5mm rainfall in last 24 hours till 0830 hours today while the summer capital of the J&K recorded a low of 1.3°C against last night’s 1.8°C, he said. Kashmir is presently under the grip of 40-day long harshest period of winter, known locally as ‘Chillai Kalan, which started from December 21. J&K Reports Highest Ever Daily Covid-19 Tally With 6570 New Cases, Highest Toll Of 14 Deaths During 3rd Wave Nadeem Nadu Srinagar, Jan 25 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir reported biggest ever daily spike of 6570 cases while 14 persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours which is highest single-day toll of the present third wave, officials said on Tuesday. 1555 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 5015 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 409166, the officials told GNS. Regarding the deaths, they said, seven each were reported from Jammu division and Kashmir Valley respectively. So far 4627 people have died due to the virus—2260 in Jammu division and 2367 in Kashmir Valley. Chinese e-commerce company Shopee, facing a controversy over FDI violations in the country, has been hit by an FIR filed by a customer in Lucknow for allegedly defrauding him. In the FIR, filed at the Mohanlalganj police station in Lucknow on January 15 and seen by IANS, the complainant Shashank Shekhar Singh said that he ordered products online from Shopee on December 10, but what he received were duplicate products.   The FIR has named Shopee, its parent company Bengaluru-based SPPIN India Pvt Ltd, and senior company officials. According to Singh, he ordered three products worth Rs 840, Rs 399 and Rs 1,299 from Shopee.
